Jacob Dakon

Jacob M. Dakon served as Associate Professor and Area Coordinator of Music Education at the University of Kansas, where he was responsible for overseeing string teacher training activities. A violinist, Dr. Dakon focuses his research on string pedagogy, the history of American string class instruction, community music, and music practice. His scholarly contributions, spanning these and other topics, have been published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, British Journal of Music Education, Journal of Historical Research in Music Education, and the String Research Journal, among others. Dr. Dakon holds a Ph.D. in music education from The Ohio State University and is trained in the pedagogical approaches of Paul Rolland, George Bornoff, and Shinichi Suzuki.
