Elizabeth Ericksen

Elizabeth Ericksen, a founding member of the Sartory String Quartet, is currently in her 15th year with Ensemble Autumno. She is retired from both Carleton College (where she was a Senior Lecturer in Music) and from MacPhail Center for Music where she taught violin and viola and coached chamber music at the Sartory String Quartet Institute. As a clinician, she has presented sessions with an emphasis on Paul Rolland pedagogy at the on-line Paul Rolland Pedagogy Workshops, MNSOTA Fall Clinic and All-State Workshops and at MacPhail. Liz has served as President and  Secretary of the board of MNSOTA, the Minnesota chapter of the American String Teacher’s  Association. In 2019, MNSOTA presented her with the “Master Teacher – Studio Award”.

Liz studied with Paul Rolland in the late 70’s at the University of Illinois and credits him with  saving her musical life by helping her fix her vibrato. She holds the BS degree in music  education and the MM degree in violin performance from the University of Illinois. Her  mentors include Paul Rolland, Mary West, and Joseph Gingold. Liz currently maintains a private  studio of violin and viola students.
